Frogs, toads and other amphibians are certainly among the most popular animals, mainly because of prejudice and ignorance of their fundamental ecological role of animals such as hogs annoying to humans (mosquitoes and flies) and harmful to agriculture (snails and other invertebrates).
Today, these small and useful friends are in grave danger and in fact in recent decades has been a sharp decline in their presence on our territory due, directly or indirectly to human activity. To vehicular traffic is in fact due to the disappearance of several populations of common toad in Lombardy that until a few years ago were reproduced on the banks of the great pre-alpine lakes, even at the risk of arriving in a few years, the extinction of populations of these amphibians. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness and protect habitats and species threatened by human activities, but also wants to raise awareness of wet systems. The campaign " Night of the Toads" aims to promote concrete actions to protect and preserve the natural environment and provides volunteers to spend a few evenings "different" to save the "toads in love" and, together with friends and family, to discover unknown worlds often experience the region and the relationship with nature in a different way and aware.
