A lesser-known segment of tourism in Slovenia is the farm. Today, in Slovenia, there are many farms, where they can spend the holidays all those who wish to escape from the daily grind of city life in the idyllic world country, in contact with nature. This farm is mostly in hilly and mountainous areas of each region and are distinguished according to its particular conditions. The farm is more developed in Koroska (Carinthia), between the high mountains and vast pine forests, the upper valley Savinja Savinjske dominated by the Alps, where blooms the breeding of livestock, in Gorenjska (Upper Carniola), the realm of the highest mountain peaks, alpine lakes and the valleys in the green mountains around Skofja Loka, in Stajerska (Styria), with its vast fields of hops, orchards and vineyards, but also in the Primorska (Littoral), in central Slovenia and Prekmurje (Prekmurje).
In these farms, the guest will find a family atmosphere, home cooking, hospitality and quiet and, somewhere, can also lend a hand in seasonal agricultural activities. Tourists will be able to spice up their stay by excursions around and walks in the mountains, picking berries, taking part in the folkloric events, visiting historical sites and buildings, hunting or fishing, swimming, or winter skiing.
